Vibrocompaction

What is Vibrocompaction?

Vibrocompaction is the process of densifying sands to reduce settlement and improve foundation stability. This technique also reduces risk of liquefaction in earthquakes causing damage or failures in foundation systems.

By driving the vibro-probe through these loose sand layers, they are vibrated into a denser state that can bear more load, and is less prone to liquefaction and stability issues.

While Vibrocompaction only works in certain types of sand, it can be a cost-effective method to improve soils to support a shallow foundation system on projects where it would otherwise not have been possible.
